Shame’s Grip

Shame’s heavy chain around me

binds my heart so tight.

It presses in endlessly,

Through the day and night.

Never giving me a moment of peace,

A voice that whispers, “You are an abomination.”

A burden follows with every accusation,

My life is sentenced to damnation.

Shame hides in the shadows of my heart,

It robs me of peace and steals my security.

Leaving only sorrow within every part,

And the terror of my eternity.

A constant evil that pierces my heart,

Sending me further into the pit.

If only I could break the chains around my soul,

I would be free at last from all this shit.
