Once upon a time, in a magical land, I stumbled upon a mysterious mirror. As I gazed into its sparkly surface, I was sucked in and transported to the wonderful world of Oz! But something was different this time…
I met the Wicked Witch of the West, but she didn’t seem so wicked. In fact, she looked a bit sad. “Hello, young traveler,” she said. “I’m glad you’re here. You see, I wasn’t always mean and grumpy. Something made me feel that way.”
“What was it?” I asked curiously.
“A long time ago, I wanted to join the Ozian Circus, but they said I wasn’t good enough. They rejected me because of my wobbly broomstick flying skills.” She sighed. “That hurt my feelings and made me want to prove them wrong.”
As we talked, the mirror’s magic changed the story around us. The Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion appeared, but they were all struggling with their own rejection stories.
The Scarecrow was rejected by the other straw-stuffed friends because he wasn’t as fluffy as them. The Tin Man was rejected by the heartless robots because he had a heart that felt too much. And the Cowardly Lion was rejected by the other lions because he was too scared to roar loudly.
The Witch smiled. “You see, rejection is like a storm cloud that can cover our sunshine. But we can learn to make our own sunshine and help others do the same!”
With that, the mirror brought me back home, but I remembered the Witch’s secret: rejection might make us feel yucky, but it can also help us grow stronger and kinder.
From that day on, I saw the Wicked Witch of the West in a new light – a complex character who faced rejection but chose to spread love and acceptance instead of grumpiness!
