I foolish believed that I could trust,

but my trust dried up like rust.

How can I be so blind at first?

To find a genuine heart, I thirst.

The chain of desperation makes me seek,

an honest loving soul who is sweet.

The whispers of strangers lure me in,

and fill a void deep within.

With promises of friendship, they speak.

Leading me to trust with a heat that is weak.

I forget that people can suddenly change.

Why I lose all self-preservation is so strange.

Now I wander alone, a feeling I know all too well.

A story of rejection and pain, I will tell.

I need to tread with care from now on.

I need to remember this trust is gone.
