Caged in with unspoken words,
trapped within my shattered heart.
Dreaming of escape from a self-made prison;
from a shattered life, broken apart.
strangled voices living in fear,
shackled in silence, never heard.
Secrets buried six feet under,
concealing the truth that’s blurred.
Unshackling the chains of my fear,
emerging from the ashes of my shattered life.
The sirens of my voice shout victory;
no longer caged, crushing my strife.
Hopeless, you thought, I would be,
your judgements hidden behind a lie.
I will press on and finish this race,
with all my strength, I will not die.
Speaking loudly, speaking truth,
reclaiming my right to exist.
No longer letting your words hold me captive,
like a soldier in battle, I will never resist.
