A good part of my life I had this focus. The quote, “Sometimes we focus too much on what we don’t have that we fail to see, appreciate, and use what we do have,” by Jeff Dixon, is something I think all of us need to learn.
With the advancement of technology, and the tendencies to be a self-seeking society, some of us can’t be happy unless they get the best and the most of everything.
I admit, I am guilty of this sometimes. I think most of us are guilty of this at times, but these daily motivations I get from my gratitude app make me think about things deeper. I don’t just read them and then move on to something else.
That is why I share my thoughts with others to analyze the meaning of these quotes. Those who are subscribed to my blog know this.
This quote makes the wheels in my mind turn. If I were honest with myself, I don’t know what I would do without certain things and I would be very depressed for a while.
That is not the kind of person deep down I want to be. I sponsor a 13-year-old boy in Indonesia. I sponsor him to help feed him, clothes him, and give him an education.
He knows what living with the basics is like, and he writes to me about his friends, what he is learning, and how his family is doing.
I can’t imagine what living on the basics is like, and being happy. I am lucky that I have come from a well off family and even though I am on disability, I am well taken care of as far as physical needs.
I stop and think about those in the world who don’t have that, and begin to be grateful and appreciative of what I have. I think about what my life would be like if I didn’t have all that I do.
It’s just something to think about if you are someone that takes for granted the things you have. Is there anything in your life that you have and others don’t? How can you begin to appreciate the things you do have?
