Faceless names in a crowded room.

Each name erased like chalk.

What gives a person a name?

You listen, but don’t hear them talk.

To acknowledge a name, and wear yours proudly,

It is to make room for yours and their heart.

Is it too much to ask to hear their story,

or will their truth tear you apart.

Faceless people stand together.

Each one is a stranger to the other.

Not one dares to hold hands.

Not one dares to reach out to another.

So close, but so far away.

Commonalities is only an image in sight.

Though you may find if you get to know

what each one must fight.

So, let us reach out our hearts,

and meet each other eye to eye.

For in doing so, you see not just a faceless being.

You might just see the face isn’t a bad guy.
