My Life Is Mine to Live

As I write, a story unfolds

of secrets I have never told.

Fear will be no more.

My soul will finally soar.

I’m taking a painful chance,

to finally make a stance.

My voice will not be silenced,

even if you call me defiant.

True to myself, I will be.

Not needing you, to be free.

You can judge who I am,

I don’t give a damn.

My life is mine to live,

my heart has much to give.

With strength, I will stand,

no longer will I be damned.

I’m using my god given mind,

to put my past of fear behind.

Love me or love me not,

I finally connected the dots.

I fearfully believed your lies.

Denying myself, I tried.

My heart, you will not steal,

As the secrets are revealed.
