This is another quote from my gratitude app that is similar to the one I just posted about, but it gave me a different thought.
Even in our bad days, there is always something we can say that has been good.
It can be as simple as having food to eat that day, for your health, for a chance to see the beauty of the outdoors, for the clothes you have to wear, or for the roof over your head.
I realize that those things sometimes can be the only things you feel grateful some days, but it is still something. Something God has blessed you with.
I came very close to being homeless one time. I was in a temporary shelter and the next day was about to be the last day I could stay there, and I would be on the streets. The next day my case worker came into my room and said she found me a place to go.
As you can imagine, the night before was filled with anxiety. I was beyond relieved that she found me a place to go. The place ended up not being that great, but it still was a roof over my head.
So, in my whole life, no matter how bad things were for me, I always had a roof over my head, and for that I can be grateful.
Not everyone can say that. There are many people who have been homeless or are homeless, but I believe God has always been there, taking care of me.
So, I think about that every day. I hold on to that when times get tough. I also give back by sponsoring a child who not only gets his physical needs met, but gets the chance to learn about God.
I write him letters regularly, and he writes me back. I have sponsored him since he was 8 years old and he is 13 now.
I don’t say this pridefully, trying to make anyone see “look at what I am doing.” I say this simply to show my gratitude for the way God has taken care of me and my ability to give back.
There is always something that we tend to take for granted that we can be grateful for, even in the midst of hard times.
What can you be grateful for?
