What daily habit do you do that improves your quality of life?

I am on a mission to read the entire Bible in a year to get some answers that I desperately need. I want to read it for myself with in-depth study to see if God gives me the answers I need.

I also write out a prayer every day. I write them out because I have learned that I express myself and my thoughts better in writing than I do with my voice.

People in my physical space always get frustrated because I never talk about things. They never know what is going on in my head because I am very closed off in my everyday interactions with people.

That isn’t so in writing. I seem to express my thoughts and feelings very well in writing. That’s why I write out my prayers. I say more, and I am learning to ask the questions that I have been brought up not to ask.

I was raised to believe that having questions and wanting proof of things was a lack of faith. That I just have to believe things without questioning them.

One of my English teachers in college said “You know what I love about you? You think about things, you seek answers, you don’t just take what I say or anyone else says and just blindly accept it. You question things, but in a good way.”

I have tried and tried to believe things blindly, but that is just not who I am. At times I can be an over-thinker, and question things to a degree where my soul can’t rest, and I need to work on that, but at the same time, I don’t want to just believe things based on what the church or my family says.

So along with reading the Bible for myself, I also write out prayers. Since I have started doing that, I am finding I am actually starting to have a relationship with God. He isn’t just an “idea” if you will, he is becoming an actual part of my life.

I am no longer just taking what I have been taught about God, or what I was raised with, I am learning about God for myself. I have so many questions that need answers, and I may never get answers to all of them, but he has answered a few of my questions so far, and I hope he answers many more.

This search for truth has been a really good thing in my life and benefits my daily life like nothing else does. I am seeking a peace with God, not a fear of God, that is transforming my life.

  1. I like how you’ve realised that writing works for you and pray in a way that suits you too 🙂 It reminds me of how God looks at the heart and will still communicate, even when you use a different approach
