With soft blonde hair, and shining blue eyes,
Crafted with plastic and cotton,
a companion for life, my buddy was.
Never without him, never forgotten.
He comforted my shattered heart,
and soothed my perpetuating fear.
When buddy was beside me,
I shed no tears.
He was there when I awoke from terror,
great company when I didn’t want to sleep.
He was the only one who knew the truth,
the only one my secrets could he keep.
Here he sits, 40 years later.
A special place on my shelf.
Thinking back on childhood years,
I am never by myself.
I love you, my buddy doll.
You helped me survive.
A life of pain and secrets.
Those memories I despise.
Only you know what is true.
My secrets, you kept with care.
My life was so unfair.
