Graceful as a Deer

Roaming free, I capture a family of deer elegantly walking through my yard. With mothers close to their young and fathers in the distance, their grace and beauty are a sight like no other. They stand, their eyes fixed on you like a picture taken. They freeze in place, evaluating every inch of your movement like a wild horse in the distance, running with your approach. They appear in the morning dew when the sun is shining brightly. Their young follow closely by their mother’s side. Most are light brown, like a baby tree that is starting to grow. Their white spots are like stars in the sky, and their black markings are as dark as the night. Their beauty captivates my soul and brings a smile to my face. I keep my distance, just observing their beauty.

  1. You describe them so well, I can picture them now, this is one of my favourite poems of yours!
