What historical event fascinates you the most?

One historical event that fascinates me is the legalization of same-sex marriage in the United States in 2015. It wasn’t just a legal victory — it was a moment of emotional justice, affirming that love between same-sex couples is equal, valid, and worthy of recognition. The ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges changed lives, including mine, by showing that dignity and equality can triumph.

It was an event that meant freedom for the LGBTQ community , which now is the LGBTQIA community. It was an event that changed lives. While some disagreed with the decision, many were liberated.

It’s unfortunate that in 2025, some rights are once again being denied, but I hope that we the people, who support the LGBTQIA community can prevail despite what changes are occurring in our nation. 2015 marked the LGBTQ community freedom from discrimination and oppression, and I believe we can stand firm in that freedom and dignity as a community and not let anyone in office or otherwise take that away from us. Laws may be changed, but our strength as a community should be a testimony of our rights and dignity.
