A Piece of the Puzzle
I am the one who holds the anger
when the others cower in fear.
Stepping forward with an iron fist,
I am always near.
You don’t see me in the mirror.
My reflection bears the face we all wear.
A face of a stranger, lost and alone.
A face of hurt and love that wasn’t there.
I remember what they have forgotten.
I bear the scars of things unseen.
I hold the truth that has never been told.
I am the bearer of all in between.
Some days I’m as strong as a bull.
Some days I’m fragile and weak.
Some days I have power and control.
Though peace is what I seek.
The world sees one face; knows one name.
But I am one of the many faces inside.
I am one note in the melody.
I hold the secrets the others hide.
