Thoughts arrive and quickly vanish.

Ideas flicker like fireflies.

Goals become an ever changing world.

Reality collides before my eyes.

I reach for stability and it fades like smoke.

I desperately cling to clarity and focus.

One thought becomes another thought.

I am more than my diagnosis.

I am not lazy or crazy.

I feel immensely and intentionally.

I walk a careful stride of success.

My intentions are good generally.

Sometimes the door is wide open.

Other times it slams in my face.

My struggles are unique to me.

I seek solace in this space.

It is the life of a brain on fire.

A brain often misunderstood.

A brain that sparks in a different flame.

A brain that doesn’t fire like they say it should.

There are days I am on top of the world.

Days when chaos spirals downward.

There are days I sit inside a single hour.

Unable to speak a single word.

I am not scattered or unstable.

I am everywhere at one time,

which is its own kind of hell,

but I wear a mask that I am fine.

The sky is the limit, they say.

My limit lives between my ears.

I have fought this battle most of my life.

I scream, but nobody hears.

    1. Thanks. It wasn’t one of my best poems, but I tried.
