Dear inner youth,

I want you to know that you will always be a part of me. You will always be important to me. I know you have as invisible life and had so many struggles that are not getting noticed. I know the kids at school are cruel, and home life is all messed up, so you are unseen and unheard. You are going through some difficult changes and don’t understand your feelings. I am sorry you have nobody to talk to about your feelings, but you can talk to me anytime you need to. I am listening and I love you. I accept you for who you are, regardless of your identity. Nothing can stop my love for you and the fact that I care very much about you. I know you lash out, get depressed, and experience anxiety much of the time. Even if nobody else tells you that you have worth and great things to give to world, I am telling you. I wish I could make things better for you, and you can be reassured that it does get better. For now, though, know that I believe you are important, and are loved. Hang in there, and don’t give up. It does get better.

Love your older self
