What’s a place you visited that felt like home?

For me, that place is Tuolumne Meadows in Yosemite National Park. When I was growing up, my family spent a week there every summer, camping high above Yosemite Valley. It was a place of peace that I never seemed to find at home, and I always dreaded the day we had to leave. Even now, the smell of pine instantly transports me back to those mountains, those meadows, and that feeling of complete serenity. I remember sitting on a large rock beside the river, listening to the rushing water and feeling the cool breeze on my face. In those moments, surrounded by nature, I felt as though I had found heaven on earth. In fact, whenever I imagine what heaven might be like, I picture Tuolumne Meadows.

Some of my favorite memories are the evenings spent around the campfire with my family. Everything seemed calmer there, and I often found myself wondering why we couldn’t always be that way. As an introvert, I dreamed of becoming a Yosemite ranger and living in a small cabin far from the noise and busyness of city life. I wanted to spend my days caring for nature and wildlife and writing among the mountains. While I never became a ranger, that dream still lives in me. Of all the places I have visited, Yosemite is the one that has always felt the most like home.
