What’s a personal mantra or philosophy you live by?
My mantra is, “Be here now.” I believe we spend far too much time either dwelling on the past or worrying about the future. We can become trapped by regrets, bad choices, old wounds, and relationships that have long since ended.
We replay moments in our minds, wishing we had acted differently or said something else, but what is done is done. We cannot change the past, no matter how much we wish we could. What we can do is learn from it.
Life is a series of lessons, and every experience teaches us something. I try to be mindful of the choices I make in each moment. Sometimes I make good choices, and sometimes I make mistakes, but every choice is an opportunity to learn and grow.
I also believe that growth is a lifelong process. As long as I am alive, I have the ability to learn, change, and become a better version of myself. That is why I try, as difficult as it can be, to be here now and embrace the present moment.
I look for the silver lining, even when life feels heavy. One of the things I still struggle with is worrying about the future. My life has not always been easy, and after experiencing more loss than I can count, hope can feel fragile. Yet I remind myself that all I can do is put one foot in front of the other.
If I let fear make my decisions, I risk missing out on something beautiful, something unexpected, or something that could change my life for the better. So I keep returning to my mantra: be here now.
